Rivertown

Today we ventured out with a one-day transit pass to hop on and off the streetcars to see the city and beyond. We went down Decatur Street to Jackson Square and saw the oldest church in North America. We had lunch at a spot called The Corner Oyster Bar and Grill and had our first feed of boiled Crawfish. To eat, you twist and pinch the tail and suck the head. It was a lot of work for a little piece of tail but it was worth it.

We wandered around the Warehouse District looking in the shops and took in the French Market and Flea Market. We spied the famous Caf? Du Monde and had chicory coffee and powdered sugar beignet.
At dusk we road a trolley to the Rivertown District, saw the Spanish fountain and caught a ferry across the Mississippi River to the charming, historic Algiers Point. We saw the sun set over the city and stopped at a pub called By the Dock for bbq shrimp, seafood gumbo and catfish poboy sandwich. On the return back to the hotel we stopped at Harrah?s Casino for a pull at the slots. To end a perfect day we went to the lobby for a nightcap of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and hot chocolate.
