Exciting Police Chase Out Front Today

ckcops.gifI was backing my pickup out of the driveway after lunch today when Ed Gillier pulls up and stops on the gravel road to chat about the upcoming harvest plans. A few minutes later I notice a red chev pickup coming from the west like a bat out of hell. I pulled Ed by his arm onto the front lawn because I was confident this guy was going to loose control on the gravel trying to get between Ed’s pickup and my mailbox. He was going at least 180kph and swept by us in a red flash. The only thing I saw was a CSI logo on the door and some kind of web url decal on the tailgate. He attempted to slow for the stop sign but started weaving for the ditch so he just blew through the sign continuing east bound towards the Kentbridge Rd.

Ed and I just shook our heads and said “I wonder what that idiot was in such a hurry for” when we saw flashing lights and heard sirens coming from the west. Three Chatham-Kent police cruisers were heading towards us and I told Ed to quickly pull his truck off the road before they hit it. They went screaming by weaving and kicking up enough gravel to thoroughly pelt us and our vehicles. They were all over their heads in their driving abilities on gravel. Cuss

Instead of the cops splitting up and going different directions on the pavement to cut this guy off (our road eventually dead ends at a T intersection) they continued playing follow the dust cloud. It was more traffic in a few seconds than we normally see in a whole day. I’ll post followup information if I hear any.

  1. Laughing My first instinct was Bako boys, but the red pickup didn’t toss out any empty corona bottles so I knew it wasn’t them. bako-drinking

  2. I was told today that the cops lost the guy during their pursuit. A true Dukes of Hazard ending. I wouldn’t be surprise if the C-K cops wiped out before they could get close enough to the pickup. The police definitely didn’t exhibit the driving skills on gravel that the pickup driver seemed to have. Hopefully no one got injured and they eventually catch their guy.

  3. Neighbourhood Gossip [not confirmed]:
They didn’t catch the driver but they did get his two passengers from an initial stop by police. When the cops were patting the passengers down for an alleged drug search the driver got back into the truck and took off. Turns out truck was stolen. Cops are plenty pissed about screwing up.
