We arrived in Florida to warm balmy breezes and quickly took off our fleece jackets. The plane ride on Spirit Air was very enjoyable. Tom surprised us by upgrading our seats to business class. We had bigger seats, free flowing drinks and snacks. The flight was a quick three hour ride. This sure beats driving! The baggage pickup went smoothly. We grabbed our luggage and took a taxi directly from the airport to Estero Island.
On arrival to Sandcastle Beach Club, we found our key tucked in the mail box with a welcome note. We quickly jumped into our swimsuits and headed for the pool. What a pretty courtyard and patio with the pool being right outside our suite. The palm trees were all decorated with Christmas lights. It is probably the warmest pool I have ever swam in. There is a hot tub too.
After our swim we strolled down the street to take in the sights. We found a cute Mexican cafe called Casablanca with live music. They had over 103 varieties of margueritas to choose from. We did our best to sample as many as we could and enjoyed burrito supremo dinners. Ahhh we are in heaven!
The nice thing about being away for Christmas is the last minute scurrying around is done just prior to departure and leaves Christmas to be peaceful and reflective. Enjoy yourselves and I’m sure that Santa will find you on Estero Island with a cold drink in your hand and a steamy novel by your side.
