IT’S B A C K… (Spring that is)

bunnies (3k image)Spring has finally returned to Chatham! The bunnies are grazing on grass just outside the open garden doors, the birds are chirping, and the temperature is a balmy but breezy 28°C! What a change from last week. It’s warmer here than it is in Calabash, NC. Now where did I store that Margarita mix?

  1. It is always a miracle to me that spring actually comes back – no matter how cold – no matter how much snow. Our grass isn’t green of course, but the snow is gone except for tiny patches here and there on the north side of things. The tulip sprouts are coming out of the ground, and some of them have green leaves starting to form.
This year I am going to “round-up” the gout weed. I’m just going to buy a sprayer and spray all the gout weed leaves as they are growing – probably mid May. Any suggestions or comments from the farming community on that?

  2. I think Rosemary would be the one to ask. She has multi-year roundup expertise in her garden.
