Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving from the Gillier’s. What a lovely weekend we have had! Lots of fun with family and friends.

Laura had a double feature movie, pizza/wing night with her friends on Friday. We did yard work on Saturday, grocery shopping and I made a delicious salmon meal that was inspired from a cooking show on Food network.

On Sunday I went to church and picked up Irene for the day. We drove around crop touring only to find that for the first time in a long time farmers were not harvesting over the Thanksgiving weekend. Tom prepared a yummy pumpernicle bread dip and we had drinks on the deck. The 13lb turkey was ready early so we ate at 3pm with starters of jumbo shrimp and red pepper & black bean soup. The cranberry stuffing, mash potatoes, asparagus and two kinds of squash went well with the bird. To top off this fine meal, we downed a warm slice of pumpkin pie and Coolwhip.

After supper Jackie and I put on our fleeces and pushed Irene down the 4th. It was such a washboard ride that we quickly made an about face. We took Irene inside her little house and she had a look see. Fond memories were shared!

The trees in the yard are in full colour and a painters delight. The maples are holding on to their leaves of ruby red and orange and the locust and birch trees are dropping their yellow leaves. We will have to put a net over the bubbling rock and pond in the next coming week to catch all of the falling leaves.

  1. The blog kept freezing up on me earlier. I think it may have the mozilla browser. Anyway, just wanted to say that it makes me feel a little homesick, but happy too that everyone had a beautiful day and were able to be together.
