Marysville Merriment

Yesterday we spent our day in and around Marysville. You could feel the holiday spirit all around with the local fair going on, sidewalk sales and the streets alive with thousands of motorcycles – mostly Hondas. They had a large enough gathering of VTX motorcycles to qualify it into the Guinness Book of World Records. The downtown streets were roped off for a huge streetparty with live music including the British Invasion.

We found a local watering hole for lunch of grilled chicken Caesar salads and a bunch of $1.00 Light Horse draft. When we went to settle the bill, the people at the next table had bought our beer.

We arrived at Honda Headquarters in time to see Jerry MotorMan Paladino go through his precision drills and spoke with author Max Burns from Cycle Canada. We toured the plant and watched production of the Goldwings and VTXs. They make about 220 bikes per day. Flying overhead was the Goodyear blimp.

For supper we went to the theme restaurant Quaker Steak and Lube. They had really good wings with Louisiana Lickin sauce. Tom had a delicious sirloin steak. After supper we headed back for the parade of lights motorcycle parade. It was kind of hoaky with all glam glitter and strobes but there were thousands of bikes in the parade that went on forever.
