Snow Birds Day One

We got up this morning at 7, threw the totes in the box hitched up the trailer, did last minute house preps and were on the highway by 9. Yeah, let the winter retirement vacation begin! We made a pit stop in Windsor and got a receipt to validate our departure date. The customs officer at the border was friendly and the tollbooth operator did not charge us for the trailer. We decided to try the eastern route this year and at Toledo turned onto the Ohio Turnpike and down Hwy 77. The roads were wet but well salted and the traffic not too bad.

It was a really pretty drive through the Ohio hills with the snow sticking to all the pine trees. We made it to Marietta Ohio along the Ohio River when we decided to call it a day. We are staying at a brand new Microtel and it is very comfortable with smokin fast wifi. We ate supper at a Bob Evans right next door. I ordered the chicken pot pie with biscuits. It was really tasty but Tom teased me cuz it was from the seniors menu. We are going to get a good nights sleep and head out early in the morning heading towards Columbia, South Carolina.

  1. You guys made it just in time. They are calling for 2-6 inches of snow here tomorrow and I believe they said expect more to the north. We haven’t seen a day this year that has made it above the freezing point and when I look to the temperature on your blog I see Chatham actually a bit warmer than us. I have heard stories that this cold is making it way south and this will likely be the coldest winter Kentucky has experienced in a long long time. I wish someone would send me some of that “Global Warming”!
