Freezer Burn

I just wanted to add our voice to the winter festivities. With the wind considered, our temperatures have been at a day time high in the -30’s and a night time low of -50’s for almost 2 weeks. We can hear the cash registers ringing all the way from Natural Gas City to Amwell Street. We plan on selling the silver to be able to pay the fuel bill. Oops… we don’t have any silver.

I can imagine the energy companies frustration with all the street people. They get to lie on the heat vents for nothing.

  1. Yikes -28C, Catherine we have been watching your temperatures and are cringing at your low mercury. It is good that you and Bill have each other because I am all for a snuggle alert! We too heat with electricity and do not want to see the meter man around the side of the house! Hang in there…
The school buses did not run today but schools were open so I had to go in to work. I only had 3 students away as parents drove their little darlings in. Tom kidnapped Laura and they headed to Detroit with a friend T.T. to the Detroit Auto Show. They had a blast. Tom drooled when he spoke about the Porshe Carrera GT. Laura loved the Mini Cooper.

  2. Damn that’s cold Catherine. We were wussing out today when we had to walk from the parking lot to Cobo Hall. There was maybe a 5 kph breeze in our face and it was no colder than -10. I’m not looking forward to paying our 1st qtr. 2004 hydro bill.

  3. It’s much warmer today. Gusty wind and a little blowing snow, but at least it’s not so cold that you have to leave the water running a little so the pipes don’t freeze – or that you’re trusting your life to your parka every time you go outside.

I walked down to the library every day. It was “bracing”, but fine. I can’t imagine how people survive without decent warm clothing and a place to sleep. I guess a lot don’t.
