It finally happened. Out of the blue I received a very generous offer for the farms and they want to close by April 23rd. The buyer accepted our counter offer, plus a 5 year lease on our house. It never fails, you finally fix/build up a few things and then end up selling before you get to enjoy it. This will enable us to live here past Martha’s retirement date and then we can look for homes in…

Connecting Our Extended Families
You don’t realize how connected you are to something until you think it isn’t going to be there anymore. Guess it’s time I grew up and faced the possibility of change, but ‘home base’ is still important. Not that I haven’t spent my whole life staying away from it, but connections are hard to break. Have I mentioned that I appreciate you?
Catherine you were the last person I thought would fall for my lame attempt at an April Fools prank. There is no one beating down my door with a trunk full of foreign cash so don’t worry. Catherine, I always felt my whole extended family appreciates me (undeservedly), but be aware, I warmly value each one of you too.

My heart was in my throat as I read this insert – I even e-mailed your website to Chris and Maureen to see!! I am very gullible I guess :-) More importantly – I need to read the rest of the story before panicing!!!

Jean and I were laughing before I pushed the button to read, as Paul Harvey would say, The Rest of The Story. I wonder if there were more that may have fell for the joke but were too in shock to reply?
The funniest was when Martha called me from school on April 1st and said “haha… you got me”. She said her immediate thoughts were “how can Tom do this without talking with me first?”. Her heart was still beating fast when she called.
