News from the Bako Infirmary

I have a sick dog and a sick boy!
Pride is on his last legs and is not doing well. He is comfortable, sleeping all day and barely able to stand. He has lost his appetite and struggles to drink water. We are hand feeding him and caring as best we can. His organs have high enzyme levels and everything is shutting down. The poor ol’guy.
Steve on the other hand has also been sick for over a month suffering from extreme sore throat, achey joints and spiking temperatures. Guess what? He was diagnosed with MONO yesterday. Picture Link to album.

He developed a frightening rash caused by the penicillin perscribed for the throat infection. This is what happens when you are misdiagnosed with Strep not Mono. The doctor said this is a textbook example of the alergic rash reaction associated with Mono and penicillin. Yikes. Sleep and rest are what is perscribled . Benedryl and popsicles are also on the shopping list. You can imagine how itchy this is. Are you scratching yet?

  1. Can you imagine what a terrible Mother I am. I sent Steve to school yesterday morning and the teachers took a fit at the site of his rash. He will stay home the remainder of the week (to sleep and hide).

  2. Oh Steve, I feel so sorry for you. Itch ,itch ,itch! When I swell in the cold it is nothing like this. AHHHHHHHH!
I hope the teachers now believe you when you say you are not feeling well and to have mercy on your work load.

  3. Eek! I hope that clears up fast Steve! It might be kind of hard to hook up with a prospective girlfriend at the local swim meets.
