Trip to Kingston

We left Eileen’s around 1pm today packing a picnic lunch she gratuitously made for us to enjoy. It was nice to finally clear the GTA traffic and enjoy the scenery. We ventured off 401 and took a bunch of backroads along the lake front and happened upon a desolate dead end road that took us to Willow Beach (near Port Hope) for our picnic. [Pictures] Laura was concerned due to the no trespassing sign but by the time any cop could locate us we would be fed and long gone.

We arrived in Kingston around 5pm and checked into the Holiday Inn Waterfront, got unpacked, and broke open the box of Caesar cocktails that Martha had brought from home. We’re heading out now to check out some restaurants for supper.

  1. Have a fun holiday in Kingston and I hope that the lovely blue sky stays the remainder of the week for you. Have a happy day tomorrow for your 26th.

  2. On Wednesday night Laura and I walked about Kingston’s historic waterfront looking for a midnight frozen treat. We saw people in red t-shirts with cameras and spot lights down at the waters edge beside our hotel. It was the legendary Vickie Keith arriving ashore after her marathon butterfly swim across lake Ontario. Quite exciting!
We saw people with icecream and asked them where they got them. We were directed to White Mountain Ice cream Parlor that served homemade ice cream in huge waffle cones. It was worth the quest :>)
