Mickey Mantle World Series

MMWSlogo.gifPeter was in McKinney Texas over the past 7 days participating in the US National 16 and under Baseball World Series. His Ontario Blue Jay Team earned the coveted spot by winning the Long Island New York, Northeast Regional Qualifiers. Off to Texas they flew. A different species of Snow birds this time and all eyes were on the Canadians. They played in 110°F heat and competed with the best teams in the US. They beat out Florida and lost to Texas and California. A dream come true for any young baseball player. They were treated to a real Texan BBQ at the Craig Ranch and Peter stepped off the plane proudly wearing a Stetson. :cowboy:

We are really proud of Peter and all his accomplishments. His outstanding play turned heads. He was like a wall behind the plate and he was seeing and pounding the ball well. A lifetime of memories. Its all about the journey, isn’t it?

  1. You got that right. Pete had a 102 temperature yesterday and a sore throat with swollen glands when he got off the plane. He went right to bed when he got home. He woke me up at 3am and off to the hospital we went as his throat was swelling and he had difficulty breathing. After blood tests and a throat swab it was confirmed he has “MONO”. Apparently he has been ill since Friday and I can’t believe he played baseball sick and with a fever. That explains the glassy eyes and red cheeks.

  2. Congratulations Peter on getting to the World Series. We are very proud of you. Take care of yourself and remember no kissing!

  3. Congratulations Peter! Sorry to hear about the Mono. Nicole just got over Mono. It took about 8 weeks. Now Mom and Dad can’t yell at you for laying around watching TV, you have Mono.
