Chicago Day 3

SalpiconToday turned out to be much nicer weather. The sun was out, no wind and the temp was a relatively balmy 4°C, well at least it felt much warmer than the previous days. Martha wanted to try out a Mexican restaurant in Old Town called Salpicon for their Easter Brunch.

Old Town turned out to be a great little neighbourhood without the crowds, blaring car horns, and overpriced shops of the Magnificent Mile district. The drinks, meal and service at Salpicon’s was top notch. The atmosphere could be described as warm family with crisp linens… a place where the bubbly buxom chef/owner comes out and hugs all her frequent patrons.

Martha wanted to check out the opulent Drake Hotel lobby (and use their wash rooms :) By the time we got closer to the Miracle Mile area, Martha was ready to share a coffee and treat from the Cheese Cake Factory. Next we hit the Water Tower complex, a bunch of other shops and eventually we weaved our way back to our hotel. Here’s a link for a few of our Chicago weekend pictures.

  1. Martha isn’t it funny that we went to Mexican restaurants as well over the Easter holidays. It must have been the frozen Margarittas as it certainly wasn’t the refried beans.
