You all will be very proud of us… we finally called a plumber, actually two, to help us with our plumbing procrastinations. Many of you had seen masking tape on our kitchen faucet so we now have modern taps that don’t come off in your hands or drip when you use them, handles that move effortlessly, and full flowing water, yes even hot water and a new stainless steel sink.
There is also a new commode… shall I say throne in my upstairs bathroom that flushes with gusto and a ka-chunk. Gone are the days of squealing laundry pumps as we now have installed a modern waste water pump and utility sink in the basement. The hot water heater was replaced, and none too soon as the bottom fell out when they dropped it into the dumpster. Almost every room with pipes needed attention and got some tweaking. Now are we good to go for another 50 years?
Congratulations! I remember when we got the first toilet running in the house and then when a bathroom got finished we were ecstatic! Indoor plumbing when working properly is a wonderful thing and usually taken for granted.
Love the new plumbing, Merry Christmas
Dear Martha,
We have new plumbing too – in the form of a rain barrel. They put a “dual purpose” eaves trough on when they shingled the roof. A “switch” in the eave allows the water from the roof to flow out onto the street or to flow into the new rain barrel. AND the barrel has a tap at the bottom where you can fill a pail full of rain water to water the plants or wash hair or whatever. It will be interesting to see how Amwell’s plumbing takes care of the garden this summer.
P.S. Your sinks are great, and I’m glad you like them. Running water and taps that don’t leak make a big difference in life’s little pleasures.
