We travelled along the Trans Canada 1 to Golden. Beautiful drive but alas mountains were blocked with thick forest fire smoke. We are staying in a cozy mountain chalet for the night called Hillside Lodge. We will tour the Banff area tomorrow and then on to Calgary.

What a shame about all the thick smoke to block the mountains. Can you tollerate the smell?
It is Mon morning and the mountains are abit more visable. At this time we do not know if the highway between Canmore and Calgary is open. We will stop in Field at an info centre to find out more. We are loving the Rockies and saw a bear by our cabin this morning.
