This morning we woke up to 78°F weather dawning tank tops and shorts and headed out for breakfast and the beach. We found a cute Greek restaurant in Time Square at the pier that served up a hearty breakfast.
By 10am the beach was getting staked out with beach chairs, umbrellas and towels. The water was fairly warm but only a few were in the water. I waded up to my knees and strolled down the beach. The sand is powder white and hard packed. It was great for walking and shell hunting.
Laura and I explored the streets around the Sandcastle and checked out the lagoon. We ventured out on the local transit on an old fashioned trolley car. For 25 cents you can travel up and down the Fort Myers Beach island or go over the bridge to the city of Fort Myers. We found a Winn Dixie grocery store and bought supplies that included chicken breasts, sirloins, a case of Corona, a bottle of Yellow Tail Merlot and a pecan pie. We had a dip in the hot tub, cracked into the novels we brought and barbecued our supper. Sipping Merlot poolside watching the sun set into the gulf ended our day.
Place looks wonderful and Martha, you look great too. Did you know that Lime green was T-H-E colour for this Christmas? Love the blonde streaks too. The cold Margaritas sound inviting especially when we experienced -18c today. I hauled out my mink to give me major warmth.
We also have powder white and hard packed stuff on the ground (I think they call it snow). No more weather reports – you trying to make us feel bad?
Today was the 2nd coldest on record for the date. Sorry you missed it! My tractor block heater is pooched so I think it may just sit til spring. A friend at work is moving to Hawaii and it was only 72 there! (poor kid!) Kinda sad that you don’t get but to hear about our weather….but I’m sure we can entice you to have a respectful pint for us.
Have a blast!
