Martha, Laura and I went to a miniature air show to day at the invite of a friend. I had never seen anything like this before and I was very impressed with the flying abilities and the building skills all these people had. Pictures available here.

Oldest Known Planet Identified
In new observations of a distant region of primitive stars, astronomers have found the oldest known planet, a huge gaseous object almost three times as old as Earth and nearly as old as the universe itself.
The discovery, based on measurements by the Hubble Space Telescope, challenged scientists to rethink theories of how, when and where planets form. It is tantalizing evidence, astronomers said, that planets began appearing billions of years earlier than previously thought and so may be more abundant.

Hubble captures celestial fireworks display 179,000 light years away
Wow! What an amazing display to celebrate the Canadian and USA’s July holidays.
Article on RedNova.com:
Hubble Space Telescope — Resembling the puffs of smoke and sparks from a summer fireworks display in this image from NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope, these delicate filaments are actually sheets of debris from a stellar explosion in a neighboring galaxy.
Hubble’s target was a supernova remnant within the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), a nearby, small companion galaxy to the Milky Way visible from the southern hemisphere.

Inca may have used knot computer code?
An article in the Independent reports that a leading scholar believes the Incas may have used a form of binary code 500 years before computers were invented. ‘Gary Urton, professor of anthropology at Harvard University, has re-analysed the complicated knotted strings of the Inca – decorative objects called khipu – and found they contain a seven-bit binary code capable of conveying more than 1,500 separate units of information…If Professor Urton is right, it means the Inca not only invented a form of binary code more than 500 years before the invention of the computer, but they used it as part of the only three-dimensional written language.

Halleluiah… All the crops are finally planted
Well tonight at 8pm the last of the soybeans FINALLY got planted. Hopefully they will all grow and not require replanting. The corn crop is up and looks OK but it is also very delayed for this time of year. Lets hope we do not get an early killing frost this autumn.
Laura’s Confirmation Today
Laura received the Sacrament of Confirmation preformed by Bishop Fabbro of the Diocese of London today. She had chosen Melanie Masterson as her spiritual sponsor and the day turned out perfect. After the ceremonies we all went to Country View Golf Course for a buffet brunch and beverages. Laura’s sister Jaclyn, Aunt Eileen, and cousin Brian came down from Toronto to help celebrate. Jenny W. and Sarah J. (Laura’s school mates) were also able to join us.

The blog leaves Pennsylvania
Within the next seven days, the web server that our blog physically resides on, is moving to a new location. My provider, AlphaOmegaHosting.Com is relocating their PA datacenter to a location that has more dependable bandwidth and server capacity. I’ve been assured everything will be moved transparently, but don’t be surprised if a problem pops up. For those of you who have complementary 4tg.ca e-mail addresses, the move should go trouble-free, and require no action by you. Everything will be mirrored on two sites until the global name servers have all been re-synced (about three days). I’ll post again when the move is complete.
