Happy Father’s Day All

Happy day to all the fathers out there in our cyber blog. Hasn’t this been a glorious weekend. Of course we spent every minute at the ball diamonds around town. Dinner tonight will be steaks on the “Barbi” and a lazy time around the pool. First swim of the season today (85oF) and the hot tub is a steamy (104oF). The beer is on ice and I just have to wait for Nick to come home. Cheers.

House finally painted

How does it look? The cedar panels were painted a stone colour and we changed the shutters to a grey blue. We still have some finishing touches to do. But the main body of the house has been done and we are thrilled with the results. I have been working like crazy in the garden getting all the planting done and the lawn furniture cleaned and set up. The pool is 80?C and everything is looking just grand.

Laura’s Confirmation Today

laura_confirmation (3k image)Laura received the Sacrament of Confirmation preformed by Bishop Fabbro of the Diocese of London today. She had chosen Melanie Masterson as her spiritual sponsor and the day turned out perfect. After the ceremonies we all went to Country View Golf Course for a buffet brunch and beverages. Laura’s sister Jaclyn, Aunt Eileen, and cousin Brian came down from Toronto to help celebrate. Jenny W. and Sarah J. (Laura’s school mates) were also able to join us.

Mother’s Day Out

“The hills are alive in Mississauga”. Jaclyn treated her mother and her aunt (Toronto Mom) for a night out on the town. We laughed and giggled the evening away at the Stage West Dinner Theatre. The evening was a lobsterfest buffet and live theatre. We ordered a fine bottle of Austrian white wine and sat back in our own comfy booth to enjoy the musical production, “The Sound of Music“. We all had our happy faces on and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thank you Jaclyn for the surprise Mother’s Day treat.

Season Opener

Spring has sprung in Mississauga. We had the baseball season opener last night in Oakville and won. Yah! Tonight Steve is the starting pitcher. I have been hailed via cell phone to bring a bunch of rags and old towels to wipe the wet and muddy ball down with. So sad that it is raining today. Peter and Brian are away at their school retreat up to Muskoka Woods Sports resort for three days. Check out the family album to see the trees in bloom on Bramsey.

Holiday stories in the Carolina’s

The Carolina’s are so beautiful this time of year with all the flowering shrubs and trees in bloom. We had a wonderful drive down despite the three hour crawl through the Washington DC Beltway. Now I know why the people thought they were sitting ducks when the Beltway sniper was on his rampage. We borrowed a tv and watched videos in the car and this made the trip seem to go by quickly and without the boys nattering at each other. Nick and I shared the driving and it took 16hrs down and 16hrs back with a stop over each time. The weather was very pleasant with high 70’s being the norm with no humidity, wind or rain. Sunny blue sky days for golfing… what more could one ask for????
Our timeshare townhouse at Marsh Harbour was great as were the golf lessons at Whispering Pines. We had quality time spent all together and we were all able to relax and have fun. Now we are back home and the baseball season has started. Thank-goodness for holidays

IT’S B A C K… (Spring that is)

bunnies (3k image)Spring has finally returned to Chatham! The bunnies are grazing on grass just outside the open garden doors, the birds are chirping, and the temperature is a balmy but breezy 28°C! What a change from last week. It’s warmer here than it is in Calabash, NC. Now where did I store that Margarita mix?
