Voice recognition software is working

I can’t believe how well this program is working. I purchased a program called Dragon Naturally Speaking 7 and after a little initial training it seems to be working quite well. This is much faster than my “hunt and peck” method of typing and as an added bonus the spelling is always correct. It does take a little getting used to navigating pages by spoken commands. When I get a little more experience I will report back on my findings.

Mystic Mind Reader

Ok.
I did this test (ED:removed link) over and over again.
How the hell does it work!
I am so boggled that it worked every time.
 Thanks for the crystal ball.

Mommy-mobile Poem

I’m not a housewife. I’m a carwife.
 Pick up. Drop off.
 Stop by. Run out.
 Go down. Turn around.
 Come back. Head out.
If it wasn’t for the dog,
 I wouldn’t even know I had a house.
 I live in the car.
 I eat in the car.
 Yesterday, I told my boys
 about the fact of life,
 in the car.
 Perfect.
I found this in a magazine and thought that it was about me.

Groundhog Day’s True Purpose

Yahoo! News – Groundhogs Looking for Love, not Shadow
Groundhogs that emerge from their dens in early February are looking for sweethearts, not shadows, a researcher says. And what’s more, the female groundhogs invite the males in for a visit.
The rodent ritual, whimsically marked each Feb. 2 as Groundhog Day seems to be part of the mating ritual “to see which females are available and where they are,” said Stam Zervanos, an associate professor of biology at Pennsylvania State University’s campus in Reading.

Get Your Cowboy Nickname

For the easily amused… a cowboy Nickname Generator on the Calgary Stampede Site. Enter in some names from your household and select their gender. The nickname is not just randomly generated but uses a truly complex algorithm and other assorted voodoo for the utmost in nickname accuracy and characteristics :) For some reason Nick Bako’s cowboy nickname tickled my funny-bone (along with a few others lol (1k image)).

Happy New Year…misc

Hoping all have a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year! LET’S GO BULLS!
We had a seafood orgy for New Years Eve. I’m sure the garlic sauce is just now starting to leave the air…wherever we roam! My monitor pooped the bed…so I’m back to a 14 in standby.grrr.
“Time for a Dell dude” as the commercial says… We were gifted with a new digital cam. Still practising…but we will start contributing. We had a couple stay over on New Years and are now sufficiently motivated to finish our guest rooms. Spent the day at IKEA and got lots of ideas and a few trinkets.

Happy New Year 2003

newyears (3k image)Happy New Year *cheers* everyone! The Gillier’s celebrated with a lobster and chicken finger dinner and pie- yum! We counted down the seconds with Dick Clarke, a cheese fondue, wearing kookie hats, popping balloons and blowing horns. There was very little smooching as we all had various cold strains. Laura had her friend Jennie over and they partied till the wee hours.
Jackie left to go back to Humber College an hour ago. It was nice having her home these past three weeks. We wish her much success with her new courses and intern placement.
We had our second snowfall Thursday leaving us with 12 cm of powder. Laura and the cats are having a good time making tracks around the farm. The fields and trees are so pretty.

Fun Christmas Celebration

Well it seems everyone has survived the holiday period (so far). Nick, Eileen and family are on route back home and here’s hoping they make it to their doctor appointments on time. No… no one was in critical condition; just nagging cold/flu symptoms. It didn’t seem to dampen their spirits much, but they had chills, coughs, and heavy chests. It always seems to happen just before a planned trip doesn’t it? …continued

Christmas in Mississauga

Hi there. Today I had a family brunch to celebrate Christmas before we all left to go to Chatham. I served a fabulous dish, “smoked salmon and potato breakfast casserole” and made a cappuccino ice-cream cake for dessert. If anyone wants the recipe I’ll gladly share it (Dec 2002 Bon Appetit). I took some pictures of our pre-Christmas. It is so much fun to celebrate the holidays all weekend and week-long.
