The Australian Museum reports a breakthrough in their plans to clone the Tasmanian Tiger. The “tiger”, actually a carnivorous marsupial, became extinct in 1936, when the last known specimen died in captivity. Er, did I say “extinct”? Now it looks like what everyone thought was an extinction may be “a 70-year hiccup”, to quote the press release. The museum’s Evolutionary Biology Unit have successfully replicated individual Tasmanian Tiger genes using a process known as PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction).

Well I finally finished my corn planting on Wedn night and we attempted to leave at 9pm. [One day late] The car is packed, everything is set, turn the key and… click, click, click. The battery is dead. I had the car to the dealer the week before and said the battery wouldn’t hold a charge correctly. They claimed “just charge it for 2 days, it tests out fine”. !%*#!#! I jump boost the car and off we drive hoping it doesn’t stall out on-route. We stopped around 1:30am at a hotel. Get up next morning, battery dead, call GM dealer down the road.

Well Martha and I might make it to the Corvette rally weekend in Bowling Green KY after all. If nothing goes wrong tomorrow the corn should finally be planted by 4 or 5 pm? Then hop in the car and drive almost to the TN border Wedn night. Hey Bill… any chance we could borrow your GTE log-on to post pictures and check mail from Bowling Green?

Well Mom has been having more falls again (3 in May, 3 in April). She just about gets healed up and then she stumbles in her room and tears her skin again. The head nurse (Theresa) had a little chat with her and asked her if she ever considered buying a wheelchair :( I believe it was a small hint or preparation for Mom’s inevitable purchase maybe this autumn/winter? (Mom’s not ready yet for that) She has really noticed a decrease in her abilities but wishes to remain walking as long as possible. 
 

Laura finally got together with Martha and they brought home her prom dress for grade 8 graduation. Time just rushes by poor ol’ Dad. I can’t believe how fast they grow up. 
 

Well Jaclyn is finished school for the summer and Martha brought her back for the summer. Next year there is no residence available for the kids at the new lakeside campus so she had to rent an apartment for the fall. Does she look impressed to be coming home? :)
