The Gilliers are here and today the weather has been picture perfect for them. I went shopping with Tom today and picked up a wireless router. We just got it installed and I’m posting this from my laptop on the deck while drinking some nice cold beers.
Tom posted some more of his vacation pictures in the photo album that can be accessed here.

Happy “Two-Four”
That number has a nice ring to it. Happy day to you both. I hope that you were able to go out and have a nice Anniversary dinner or was it a picnic in a secluded mountain meadow somewhere? I’m glad that we are able to communicate. This Blog is great. Thanks Tom for setting us all up on it. I’m dying to see your pics from your new camera. The wide angle shot at Horseshoe Bay was sepectacular.
In Golden
We travelled along the Trans Canada 1 to Golden. Beautiful drive but alas mountains were blocked with thick forest fire smoke. We are staying in a cozy mountain chalet for the night called Hillside Lodge. We will tour the Banff area tomorrow and then on to Calgary.
Happy Anniversary
29 years for Eileen and Nick today. Congratulations you two and best wishes for many, many more!![]()
Kelowna Visit gets interesting…
We got to George and Louise Gibson’s home today. Had a nice visit but the smoke in the atmosphere ruined the view when we took the Mission Winery tour. The radio is now advising us to be prepared to evaquate the area as the forest fire is only a few KM’s away. The sky is lit up orange with a huge plumb of gray smoke and everyone is gathering up personal affects. I would post some pictures but this computer is old enough to not have a USB port. I’m not sure if I’ll have a chance to post any more details tomorrow but this should be a trip that Laura will never forget. ![]()
Basement Clutter
I’m well on my way to organizing my life. I started to purge my clutter and started in the furnace room and storage area. I first had to move out all the boxes and clear out the “Black Hole”. I cleaned and dusted and then painted the floor. Built and installed shelves from Ikea and bought Rubbermaid buckets to store all the “must keeps”. Everything else will get tossed. Why do I need that Grade three art folder anyway? My tv room is in an absolute upheavale, but what the heck. My dead line to have it all done is this Thursday. Wish me luck!
Another Glorious Day
I have been watching the web cams on Bowen Island and English Bay and the weather that they are having on the west coast is just unbelievable. Martha, Tom and Laura you must be having the time of your lives. Have you decided to move out there yet? Blackberry season will tempt me anyday, thats for sure. Glad to hear that you are having a fun holiday. Happy Anniversary. I wish I was there to dine and celebrate together, like always.
Bowen Island
Yeah, We are here in beautiful B.C on Bowen Island. The weather is great, the air clear and the sky is blue. Auntie Teeny met us at the ferry and today we explored the island and had halibut at Doc Morgan’s. This is life! Check our pictures at our photo album.
Laura’s Birthday Party and Family Reunion a Success
First and foremost I want to say “Happy Birthday Laura”. We were very fortunate to have all the Gillier siblings back together at the family farm for the first time in 15 years. The weather was fantastic, the company tolerable [
…joke, Martha] and the food/beverages plentiful. Many thanks to everyone who dug in donating their energy and resources to make this get together an enjoyable success. Mom had a great time seeing everyone and sharing stories, food, and drink. For a few pictures of the event click here.
Visiting as a lifestyle
Rosemary and I had the pleasure of entertaining two plane loads of Scottish clan. It was a first in 18 years or so. Now our Gillier side will be doing a similar engagement after a similar multi-year wait. My take on this is that we have spent too little time together…and hopefully this is a start of much more involvement. I will join everyone in Chatham on Saturday. Pictures and stories are sure to follow!
