Cement is poured

Wow, today was a long day. The cement truck arrived late afternoon and the cement was laid on the front stoop, side patio ond sidewalk. We chose a salmon tinted concrete and it really compliments the brick walls on the house. They have just finished up and it is 10:30. It looks great! They have taken much care putting a swirlly textured design on the surface with ridged edges, perfect!
Laura baked chocolate chip cookies, made a pot of coffee and took it out to the guys. The temperature is on the chilly side and they said it is perfect to cure the mixture.

Labour on Labour Day!

Tonight at 9:45pm Jean called to announce the birth of another Grandbaby, Rylyn Sloan Robinson, baby daughter to Teresa and Rhett. She arrived after 36 hours of labour and finally by c-section in Fairbanks Alaska. She is 10lb 6oz 22 inches long with a full head of dark hair. Mom, dad and daughter are doing fine. Jean and Bill will fly up on Saturday.

Summer Winds Down

It is hard to believe this summer will soon be over and everyone will be getting back to their old routines. This week the weather has been hot and humid – perfect for night cruising with the top down.
On Wednesday Laura and two friends went on a bus trip to Canada’s Wonderland in Toronto. They loved the waterpark and wave pool area the best. The lineups for the super rollercoasters were +1hrs long but they managed to go on a few. They loved the freedom of being on their own for the first time and had a great time.

Kelowna Fire Storm now Category 6 (highest)

kelowna-fire2 (3k image)Our prayers are with George, Louise and Graham Gibson [see previous post] today as the fires in Kelowna rage towards their beautiful home. Firefighters are battling walls of fire 400 feet high with wind gusts from 60 to 70 km/h advancing the flames 100 meters per minute. They were evacuated Thursday night and are safe at George’s sister, Dixie. People were given 1hr notice to leave and they were able to get out with pictures, important papers, some mementos and a few antiques. Today could be a very tragic event for them.

In Golden

We travelled along the Trans Canada 1 to Golden. Beautiful drive but alas mountains were blocked with thick forest fire smoke. We are staying in a cozy mountain chalet for the night called Hillside Lodge. We will tour the Banff area tomorrow and then on to Calgary.

Bowen Island

Yeah, We are here in beautiful B.C on Bowen Island. The weather is great, the air clear and the sky is blue. Auntie Teeny met us at the ferry and today we explored the island and had halibut at Doc Morgan’s. This is life! Check our pictures at our photo album.

Summer Picnic

Yesterday the residence from Copper Terrace had an outing to Mitchell’s Bay. The Rotary Club sponsored a KFC picnic. Irene and Martha attended and had a great time. To view pictures from the day click here.
