We finally got around to getting all the trees trimmed up higher from the ground. The whole place was getting so overcome with trees the grass couldn’t grow in the shade. What a difference it made! We hired someone that Jaclyn babysat for and he does tree service during his days off as a fireman. They were very professional in their job and we’re so glad to have this done. Irene Update
Irene’s left and right legs are healing well from the celulitus bout this month but she now has a new spot on her right leg that is weaping. They do not think it is a reaccurance of celulitus. She is on a new antibiotic called abactin. They are applying mineral oil to try and take away some of the scaly skin.
When we visited her this Monday morning we found her quite out of it and not able to communicate very well. It was difficult to make out the words she was saying and she was repeating words. She kept saying Jean is coming. We later found out she had called both Jean and Catherine on the week end. Our phone was on the blink and Irene was calling the neighbourhood looking for Tom. Her air conditioner blew a fuse when she turned on her TV and she wanted him to fix it.
Theresa the head nurse at Copper Terrace has been away for 3 weeks and she called us this morning. She has notices a considerable slide in Irene’s health/ mobility and responsiveness. She thinks that perhaps she has experiences a Transient ischemic attack, or mini-stroke.

Laura’s Grade 8 Graduation (with pictures)
– Laura’s graduation day went very well for her. She went with a friend and they both got their hair cranked up in the morning. Laura asked to have Maureen Masterson do her hair and they really enjoyed the final result. Martha got some flowers to braid into Laura’s hair and it turned out great. Laura seemed to be floating all day. We could tell she liked being dressed up and was looking forward to seeing all her friends at the evenings celebration.

Garden Party at Copper Terracce
Today from 10:30 til 3:00 Copper Terrace hosted a garden party and strawberry social to celebrate senior citizen’s month. Tom, Laura and myself went in at lunch time for the BBQ. It was a very hot day around 26 but under the trees and canope it was very nice. Irene had a wonderful time and a hardy appetite for a hamburger, potato salad, macaroni salad and sshe left room for butterscotch ripple ice cream and fresh strawberry shortcake. They have done major renovations to the backyard landscaping. They have added walking paths, a gazebo, fish pond, various of benches and seating to set a spell and all kinds of flowers and shrubs. The staff came in and did all the planting and mulching. At the garden party they had antique cars on display in the parking lot, a trio band in the gazebo playing Benny Goodman style songs and games and prizes for the kids. There was a cotton candy and popcorn machine. Go-Fish tank, beanbag toss, dunk tank and face painting. It was a day enjoyed by all!
