Laura’s Big Moving Day

IMG_9261.jpgWith twirling emotions of excitement and sadness, we helped Laura move into St Clair College Residence today. Laura has been planning and packing bits and pieces for the last couple of weeks and today was her big day to flee from the nest. With a body crushing hug goodbye for Lucas the cat, and a quick check around the house, we were on our way to Windsor by 10am.

Without a doubt, this was the smoothest and best orchestrated move I have ever been involved with. The residence handbook told us that upon arrival to pull up front of the building on the circular drive and await the volunteer helpers. We pulled up front and watched in awe as a legion of students armed with dollies and shopping carts came to offload my pickup truck. Laura went to the front desk, signed a few papers, got her room key, and joined them at the waiting elevator. They had BBQs setup out front giving out free hot dogs and pop to any parents and kids waiting in queue. Before I could park the (now empty) vehicle behind the building, all Laura’s stuff was in her room waiting for her to unpack and Martha was weighed down with ballparks and Coke. Un-freekin-believable! Man what a different experience from the residence at UofW.

  2. Laura your room looks like “home sweet home” at least for the next 10 months. I love the beaming smile that you have on your face. I’m so excited for you and the new experiences that you will explore. Have fun at Frosh week.

  3. Dear Laura,

I haven’t been able to check my email for a while, so it wasn’t until today that I knew the date of your move. I hope things go well for you. Take care. Have fun. Learn lots.
