Today is Laura’s 21st birthday and to celebrate she requested having brunch at the Country View Golf Course. We met Jason and her there around 11 am and we had a very nice and relaxing Sunday brunch. It was humorous that Martha and Jason had the similar ideas for birthday presents. Thank goodness for return privileges and Martha still has the receipts.
Best wishes and hugs to our little girl. Love Mom and Dad. Continue reading

The Summer of 2009
Oh to be young and have your own wheels. The kids seem to be conserving gas or working like crazy as I have not heard of any recent “Road Trips”. Steve was the first to get into the drivers seat of a 2005 Royal Blue Ford Escape. Laura over much anxiety put her trust and coin in a 2010 White Toyota Corolla. Nicole is bombing around off road in her 2005 Silver Nissan Xtera. May you all only drive as fast as your guardian angels can fly.
Laura’s First Day at Work
Today was Laura’s first paid day working as a dental assistant. She has accepted a position working for a young dentist with a small dental office in Dresden. We are so happy and proud for her and wish her the best in her chosen field.
Teen Years Bite the Dust
Happy 20th Birthday Laura. :bday: You have surfed your way through the teen years without a wipeout on the big wave. Today, you venture into a whole new realm of twenty something. When I phoned you tonight you said you were playing teen games and being a kid for the last time. Hey listen, just because the teen years have bit the dust doesn’t mean that you can’t still play and have fun. Enjoy!
Laura is home for the Holidays
These last two weeks have been a very busy time for Laura. She has been studying hard, finishing up reports, getting tested in her clinical and writing her final exams. She had 11 exams/tests and done well in all. Way to go girl!
Tom drove down to Windsor on Friday afternoon to bring her home for the holidays. They stopped off at Costco to do some last minute Christmas shopping. Laura will be home for some R&R and then head back to start a new semester on January 7th.
Laura was able to get back in ‘home mode’ with pjs on till noon etc. Lucas was extremely happy to have Laura home and has been sticking by her like glue. I know as parents we are happy to have our little nests full again.
Laura’s Big Moving Day
With twirling emotions of excitement and sadness, we helped Laura move into St Clair College Residence today. Laura has been planning and packing bits and pieces for the last couple of weeks and today was her big day to flee from the nest. With a body crushing hug goodbye for Lucas the cat, and a quick check around the house, we were on our way to Windsor by 10am. Continue reading
College Tour
Today Tom, Laura and I headed to Windsor to check out Laura’s new home…
the St. Clair College Campus and Residence. We have passed by many times but this was our first time looking around. It was nice to explore the halls and classrooms without the throngs of people. We even got a personal tour of the dorm suites. Tom enjoyed the wireless high speed as he tested out Laura’s laptop and downloaded a few podcasts.

Laura’s New Job
Laura came home yesterday and announced she went to an interview after school at the downtown mall and got offered a job working at Coles Bookstore. She starts on Sunday. …Hmmm, I wonder what I can start charging her now for room and board. ;-)
