As of June 27 Martha was officially retired after 31 years of teaching. She was asked back to plant some trees that was dropped off at the school (not sure why only her?) and she surrendered the school keys on the way out. Martha was able to celebrate the occasion with co-workers at an afternoon school tea/bbq and also an end of year staff party at Bob ‘N’ Buoys Restaurant in Mitchell’s Bay. So far she’s handling the change well and is looking forward to her future travels. Picture albums after the jump.
Martha! The pictures show you are much too young to retire! But if you insist on retiring…have a long and happy time. You have earned some “Martha” time.
What is the GPS location for Retirement Lane? I want to google earth it!
Google earth link would be here… retirement lane.
Over those 31 years Martha, the children have been very blessed. I imagine that the adults among them realise this, and wish the same good fortune for the little ones they have parented. You will be hard (no-impossible) to replace, but hopefully there are young men and women now attending teachers’college who will have some of your talents and enthusiasm – and also will have the same love for the children they teach. Have good times.
Congratulations!!! I’ll call you this week.
After a month on “life of Riley Lane”…we need some feedback on the experience!
Take care…John
