After a tardy start this morning I finally got on the road. I was surprised how strong the winds gusts were before I even got to the highway. No problem, just loosen up on the grips and let the bike do what it wants. I was wearing full safety gear and flow ventilation “air over-pants” that worked great (thank goodness). I took my time taking back roads and crossed into NY at Niagara on the Lake. There was construction on the bridge and the US side. I’m not sure if I was in the wrong (or construction only) lane or what but I never did pay a toll. Customs took all of 5 seconds. I didn’t even have time to pull out my passport. The Customs Agent said “Where are you going and for how long… sounds like fun, enjoy yourself”.

Martha Honoured in Award Ceremony
Martha got a big surprise tonight during the annual coaches banquet. When the Director of Education got up to present the award (not given out since 1999) and started talking about the intended recipient’s past service, Martha thought to herself “hey, I’ve done that”. When they announced her name she said she was so surprised she couldn’t believe it, it just didn’t click that this was for her. She was awarded the KCSAC Award for outstanding contributions to school athletics by the St Clair District School Board.
Congratulations Martha.
Victoria Day Weekend
Hope everyone is enjoying the weather and the festivities over this long awaited weekend. We are officially all finished planting for the season! Tom finished drilling the soybeans on the home farm on Friday. He and Bob got Lachine’s beans all in shortly after noon on Saturday with time to spare. With the weather being so nice Tom took off for a motorcycle ride and ended up at the grand opening of the new Duke’s Harley Davidson dealership on 401.

Blooming on Bramsey
Yesterday was our flower delivery day. The boys hockey team did a fundraiser and sold annuals and hanging baskets to help offset their trip at Christmas. It was a huge success as we sold to neighbours and friends. We had the truck drop off at three houses to help control the inventory and distribution. I still have four families to deliver to. Talk about Flower Power!
Spring Planting
Today is 05-05-2005 and Cinco de Mayo. It is also the first day of farming for Tom! He and Bob were busy working ground and planting corn around the house and bush till dark. These two make a great team and are good for each other. They compliment and balance each others skills and temperaments. Hope everyone gets and a good sleep for an early start tomorrow. The weatherman is predicting warmer weather.
Trading Spaces
Last Monday, Irene moved down the hall to room 246. Her room was scheduled to get a make-over including new bathroom, closet removed for a wardrobe, updated heating, ceiling, paint and drapes.
I went in on Sunday and helped pack up all the books, pictures and nicknacks etc. A volunteer helped transport all her belongings down the hall and set up the new room. All in all the move went very smooth and Irene is comfortable in her new surroundings.

Blue Jay Home Opener
Steve took his friend Evan Farlinger to the home opener tonight. They had seats in the 19th row right behind homeplate. A very exciting game. I was home alone watching on the big screen tv and even watched the final innings. A heart stopper in the bottom of the nineth I might add. I was flipping channels at the commercials to enjoy the Gregorian chants at the great mass in Rome. Happy weekend all.

Happy Cruisin’
Did anybody notice that the snow has melted on Tom’s corvet? Enjoy the sun while it is here before the April showers begin. Oops, maybe I spoke too soon!
