On Sunday September 14th, Brian and Peter turned 19. They had their first birthday apart, Brian living in Toronto and going to Ryerson University and Peter living in Warner, Oklahoma going to Conner’s State College. They texted each other and wished each other a fun time. Brian met us for dinner and he then took us back to his dorm to show his grandmothers and parents where he will be spending the next 10 months. Happy Birthday boys.

We awoke a little late to capture the sunrise on our final days on Estero Is. but today again promises to be bright and sunny. Martha wanted to get her final serving of the daily ‘fireman show’ on the beach (2nd time) and drags me along to savor all the bikini action. I must say it was entertaining to see all the scantily dressed ladies enjoying themselves. :drool: By mid-afternoon we returned to the condo to enjoy a cooling swim in the pool and to plan our last dinner outing for the week. This morning we woke up and went to the Gulfshore Grill to have breakfast with Mernah and Ron (the people who rented us their FMB timeshare for Xmas 2004). We all had a nice leisurely breakfast watching the action from our beach front table while sharing stories of things to do and places to rent in the area.
After breakfast Martha was drawn to the crowds at Town Square while I went back to our place for a swim and a promise to meet her again at 2pm for drinks at the SOB. Continue reading
This part of Florida is a really nice spot to vacation. The weather yesterday was 79 and today it was 78 with some afternoon overcast and humidity. We are lathered in sun screen but I still got burnt on my shoulders today. At Fort Myers Beach, the sand is hard packed, fine (almost like talc), and as white as can be. Last weeks storm has churned up the sea so the water is a murky greenish brown. Continue reading
We arrived about an hour late on Saturday due to de-icing hold-ups at Detroit Metro Airport but we managed to get settled in by 3:30pm. The condo is very nice, right on the beach, and well appointed for our stay. It’s like staying at someone’s house, everything is right at hand. Continue reading
Happy Birthday Martha and Happy Saint Patrick’s Day to you. Turning 53 ain’t that bad especially if you can celebrate in an Irish Pub. It was nice to be away somewhere warm for my birthday. Florida was lovely this time of year and it was perfect temperatures to sit in a lawn chair and watch baseball games. I really think that the Americans celebrate this day more than the Irish Canadians. Have you seen the u-tube video clip where they colour the river in Chicago Green? Continue reading
