Day Trip to Key West
Martha and I left Saturday morning on the bike and rode to Key West. The sky was blue, air was warm, and the traffic was moving well. We took US1 down to mile marker “0” at the furthest southern point in the USA. After our obligatory tourist snapshot, we walked back to our bike to see a policewoman sneaking around behind bushes and shrubs. She was talking into her radio and reporting on the crowd gathered around the marker. It was funny watching her crouch and scurry from bush to shrub, trying to stealthily make her report. I just assumed she was looking for pic-pockets or people of interest. Pictures and videos after the break. Continue reading
Chatham Retrofest Weekend
The 6th Annual Retrofest was held in Chatham this weekend and it seemed to be a well attended event. Friday was the Classic Cruise night and Saturday was the Car Show on King St followed by a Jimmy Buffett Tribute Band for a BeachFreeze Party in the evening. The temps during the dance fell down to 10°C and unfortunately the attendance suffered for it. We still had a good time plus our share of the Margaritas. You can check out our photos and a short video after the jump. Continue reading
Life on the Beach Day 5
This morning we woke up and went to the Gulfshore Grill to have breakfast with Mernah and Ron (the people who rented us their FMB timeshare for Xmas 2004). We all had a nice leisurely breakfast watching the action from our beach front table while sharing stories of things to do and places to rent in the area.
After breakfast Martha was drawn to the crowds at Town Square while I went back to our place for a swim and a promise to meet her again at 2pm for drinks at the SOB. Continue reading

Lake George Day 2
Today was a beautiful day as Tom and I toured the village of Lake George. We walked the promenade along the marina to check out the boats and watch the paddle wheel and steam ships come and go. The main street is called Canada Street and yes it has its share of emporiums and fudge shops. I am very proud to say we were able to resist the temptation of buying an ice cone but caved in to ordering raw oysters on the 1/2 shell and a couple glasses of Bear Naked Ale… yum! There was a live orchestra playing big band swing music at the band shell this evening that drew us in to sit a spell and tap our feet. This really is a vacation spot that appeals to every age group.
