Happy Easter everyone. I awoke to the sound of pouring rain outside. The Easter Bunny found us in Squamish, funny thing eh? Brian is racing the race of his life today. A 30km on the Olympic Race trail. It is classic style Nordic with fresh snow in the tracks. It snowed 28cm last night. We have no snow in Squamish (only rain) and after a 45min drive up the coast towards Whistler in the Callaghan Valley, the snow banks are higher than the cars. It has been a wonderful holiday and experience of a life time. Check out my photo album here.

Is It Cold Enough Yet?
We are hunkering down to enjoy the warm confines of our home. It is far too cold outside to stay out for very long. Brian and I just got back from Ottawa and the Skinouk Nordic Ski Race that was held in Gatineau, Quebec. It was fun but very cold for everyone. I’m still thawing out.
Horray winter is finally here
Hi everyone, Brian here, I guess that you are all thinking that I am crazy. Tomorrow at 9:30am I will be hitting the trails at Hardwood Hills. I’m not really in shape yet for the ski season as I missed the fall fitness training program. Having the flu really set me back. I’m hoping that when I get to Hardwood tomorrow that my brand new shiny red skis will be there, they have been handpicked from the Peltonen Factory in Finland. The skiis are specific to my weight and height for optimal performance!
Ontario Winter Games
While everyone else has fled to places of fairer weather I headed north to Collingwood with Brian. He was participating in the Ontario Winter Games over the weekend. He raced Friday and Saturday and came in 9th for both his Classic and Skate style races. This is great as he made top ten. His sr boys relay made podium and they received the bronze medal. They were able to do really well on this final race of the season as the gold squad was at nationals in Thunderbay. This gave way for Brian and the other kids on the silver devo squad (b team) to place well and get provincial points.

Hooray for Snow
Brian and Nick are off to Ottawa tonight. They are driving up with Team Hardwood coaches and racers in a big suburban hauling a trailer. Nick will share with the driving and the kids will watch movies for 5hrs. They are all off to the “O Cup” races, one in a series throughout the ski season. This is Brian’s new found love and he is really excited to go. He and his Buddy Patrick were also invited to participate at the Ontario Winter Games in March. This is a big honour as this is his first year with the race team. We have no snow in the city but once you drive past Barrie you are in a snow belt and they have been training up there all winter. [EDIT] Added pictures of the race here.
