Happy Valentine’s Day

Today we got up bright and early and Eileen treated us to a Valentine’s Day Americano Coffee. We gathered our belongings and said farewell to Carol’s Cottage. We moved down the block to the Sea Isle Condominium complex right on the Atlantic Ocean. We have a lovely two bedroom apartment on the third floor with a view of the pool and beach from the living room and a view of the lovely sunsets from the bedroom balcony. We shall be very comfortable here.

Surprise Birthday Luncheon

CrocusesUpon arrival to Vancouver we rented a car and drove to Auntie Joanne’s. We were greeted with cherry blossoms about to burst, daffodils, crocuses, and fragrant flowering jasmine as we passed through the entry gates to Auntie Joe’s condo. Uncle Ted had arrived via taxi from Maple Ridge and we had a wonderful afternoon noshing on a catered sandwich lunch from Stong’s. All looked well, vibrant and happy. Both seemed to have lots of energy and they enjoyed catching up on news and chatting with Brian and myself. We took a trip down nostalgia lane and drove around Dunbar, Point Grey and West Van. We also had lovely visits with Auntie Maureen and Auntie Mickie in their nursing homes. Check out my photos.

Spring Showers on the West Coast

egg_1.gifHappy Easter everyone. I awoke to the sound of pouring rain outside. The Easter Bunny found us in Squamish, funny thing eh? Brian is racing the race of his life today. A 30km on the Olympic Race trail. It is classic style Nordic with fresh snow in the tracks. It snowed 28cm last night. We have no snow in Squamish (only rain) and after a 45min drive up the coast towards Whistler in the Callaghan Valley, the snow banks are higher than the cars. It has been a wonderful holiday and experience of a life time. Check out my photo album here.

Beautiful British Columbia

magnoliaAs we ease down the road from the airport we are welcomed by a row of magnolia trees in full bloom. Welcome to BC. Auntie Joanne catered a beautiful luncheon upon our arrival and we spent the day visiting with her and Uncle Ted. They both looked great and had lots of energy and stories to share. I drove Brian around Kerrisdale, Dunbar, Point Grey, Downtown and West Van. We did the tour thing and it was really fun. I was happy to be back.

Viva Las Vegas

Paris04.jpgThe Wow Factor was right up there. We stayed at the Paris Hotel and Casino right in the heart of Las Vegas Blvd. Had an upgraded Suite, king size bed and all the trimmings and a view overlooking the famous Bell Fountain. While Nick was at his conference I ventured about roaming from one end of the strip to the other. I even economized and bought a jumbo hot dog and a Miller Lite combo for $2.00 and sat on a park bench at 11am and had my lunch. Went on a dam coach tour to the Hoover Dam, ate buffalo chili and even shopped. I tried my hand at the slot machines and was too chicken to try the tables. Had fun though watching strangers loose their stacks of chips. Got invited to a cocktail party at the top of the Hilton, held in Elvis’s private suite, now that was pretty cool. Went to two nightclubs, LAX at the Luxor and Body English at the Hard Rock Cafe. Didn’t get up on the dance floor but got plenty of Cosmo’s and scoped out the pole dancers. Left the glitz and glamour behind and now its back to reality. Check out my Las Vegas pictures here.

Happy Easter ’07

I hope that everyone has a wonderful Easter Holiday. Can you believe the cold weather that is expected for the weekend! That Calgary snow is coming out east and our spring flowers are shuddering at the thought. I have been going to the gym and watching my diet in preparation for the big chocolate fest. I stepped on the scales this morning and I gained a few…go figure!
