Friday evening was still young so we headed to Chatham to see what was happening on King Street. For the RM celebrations they had a classic car cruise along “The Drag”. The downtown was a buzz with people, revving engines, and rock and roll. It brought back memories of the 70?s.

Thamesville Parade
What a Weekend for Chatham Kent! On Friday evening Tom, Laura, and myself ventured to Thamesville for the Thrashing Days Festival Parade. We parked our lawn chairs by the hotel’s patio and had a good view with the sun at our backs.
Cubby was on the patio, so of course we had a brew together before the parade marshal went by. It was another great parade with lots of horses, tractors, old cars, floats, and of course Shriners and my favourite the firemen and their firetrucks. We saw Joey Roesch on his restored Ford tractor and Wes Thompson was having fun driving his antique fire truck. We had lots of fun and Laura even caught a string of Mardi Gras beads.
The Newest Gillier
Meet Lucas, our newest family addition. We adopted him yesterday. He is a 5 year old dark tabby with four white mitten paws and white markings on face, chest and belly. He is an awesome cat with a friendly personality plus he is declawed and neutered.

Happy Stampede Calgary cousins!
This morning I woke up to watch the Stampede Parade. It was a great parade with all the beautiful horses, floats and bands. I even saw the marching band from Bishop Grandin H.S. I think I will cook a pancake breakfast for Tom and Laura.
Happy 137 Birthday Canada Day

Lots happening this year on the 1st of July for Canada Day. Everyone loves a parade including the Gilliers. We set off to Chatham with our lawn chairs, sunscreen and sodas for the parade. We found a shady spot on the Kornacker’s driveway on King Street just down from Lacroix Street.

Copper Terrace Renovations
This weekend officially marked the opened of the new wing at Copper Terrace. Irene has been watching the comings and goings of the workmen and renovations to the building all winter long. She took me on a grand tour of the new dining rooms, front door, foyer, kitchen and elevator. The entry code to push is 1990 and the elevator floor is 2R. It is a welcomed addition! There will no longer be the parking lot of wheelchairs waiting for elevators. The old dining room will be used as an activity and entertainment room.
Baby Shower
On Sunday Laura and I went to a lovely baby shower for Karyn Bernard (Roesch). She is due on the 28th of July. She looked radient if you can say that about a pregnant woman.

Teeny Celebrates BD#82
Yesterday Tom and I were sitting on the deck sipping our coffee and enjoying the soft rain on the newly planted soybeans when Tom says, “Did you hear that”? I said “What?” Tom responds, ” I think it is the Bowen ferry!” We both fondly laughed knowing that both our hearts occasionally find their way out west. Little did we know that June 10th was Teeny’s official 82nd birthday.
