Heading Home

It is hard to believe we have been away from home for 7weeks and it is now time to head back. The time has been so enjoyable both at Carol’s Cottage and at the Sea Isle Condos. We have many fond memories to hold us till next year…

We left Key Colony Beach on Sunday March 1st at 10:30 after I had a chance to have one more swim in the pool and a last dip in the Ocean. The Bike and belongings all loaded with precision into the truck and trailer and we headed up the Florida Turnpike to Ocala Florida. The temp when we left the Keys was 29C and as we traveled north it slowly got cooler till it dropped to 10C.

On Monday we were watching the snow that was blasting the eastern seaboard and decided our next stop over would be McDonough Georgia which is just south of Atlanta. The roads have been good and the travel scenic. We are heading to Bill and Jean’s today and should be at Harrington Lake by supper.

Getting Baked in KCB

…clam baked that is :) This afternoon we went to the KCB Clam Bake at the local park by our golf course. It was put on by the Key Colony Fishing and Boating Club. The food was fresh and very well prepared. They had raw clams, clam chowder, steamed clams, fried clam strips, raw oysters, fried oysters, fried tilapia fish, fried chips, fried onion rings and a free flowing bar of draft beer and wine. We were impressed with how quickly and efficiently so many people were served. It was so much fun and a great way to spend a Monday afternoon. Pictures after the jump. Continue reading

Happy Valentine’s Day

Today we got up bright and early and Eileen treated us to a Valentine’s Day Americano Coffee. We gathered our belongings and said farewell to Carol’s Cottage. We moved down the block to the Sea Isle Condominium complex right on the Atlantic Ocean. We have a lovely two bedroom apartment on the third floor with a view of the pool and beach from the living room and a view of the lovely sunsets from the bedroom balcony. We shall be very comfortable here.

Key Colony Beach

IMG_6025.jpgYeah… we are here. The house is amazing — big, comfy, everything anyone would need! We got here around noon. Check in was not suppose to be until 4pm but the house was unlocked, instructions and keys in the kitchen so we moved on in.

The bike traveled well and Tom unloaded it in a flash. After unpacking the car we went on the motorcycle to Sparky’s Landing for raw oysters and fish tacos (delicious) for lunch. Then back to the house to get our bearings, test out the beds, lay in the sunshine and make out a grocery list. It is 5pm and we are going out for happy hour. 25 cent wings and 25 cent shrimp and 1 dollar drafts. Life is Good!
Photos and Video after the break. Continue reading
