Out on a limb

tree trimmingWith the weather, dry and sunny we had a visitor in the backyard today. We had our trees pruned and it was quite the sight to see. The arborist maneuvered the Black Locust limbs like a monkey. It cost us a bundle but it was well worth the entertainment and the tree needed the attention.

Bako’s in Kansas City

easter in kcThe whole fan damely flew into KC for Easter this year to spend the holidays with Steve. We spent Friday and Saturday watching 3 baseball games. Rockhurst vs St Louis and the Hawks took the sweep winning all threes games. Steve did not get a chance to pitch which was what we were hoping to see. He looks great and is enjoying his studies (3.7gpa). He writes his final exams the first week in May. The weather is cold and we were smart to bring ski jackets and gloves. The tulips all over the city are out but drooped in the frost. Cherry blossoms and dogwoods abound and the city looks inviting. We fly home tonight. Check out trip pictures here.

Happy Easter ’07

I hope that everyone has a wonderful Easter Holiday. Can you believe the cold weather that is expected for the weekend! That Calgary snow is coming out east and our spring flowers are shuddering at the thought. I have been going to the gym and watching my diet in preparation for the big chocolate fest. I stepped on the scales this morning and I gained a few…go figure!

A Lifetime of Hockey Comes to an End

last hockey picturesThe boys hockey has come to an end. Their final game was played in a default as 10 players were away on their March break vacations. We learned of the loss from our condo in Florida. It was a sad way to leave the game for all these boys, this being their last year to play and for Nick to coach. I have done the final laundry. Uniform jerseys, jock strap and skates are hanging on a hook on the wall now. Sweet memories of a lifestyle, culture and friendship to cherish.

Top-O-The-Mornin Ta Ya

leprechaun.gifHappy Birthday Martha and Happy Saint Patrick’s Day to you. Turning 53 ain’t that bad especially if you can celebrate in an Irish Pub. It was nice to be away somewhere warm for my birthday. Florida was lovely this time of year and it was perfect temperatures to sit in a lawn chair and watch baseball games. I really think that the Americans celebrate this day more than the Irish Canadians. Have you seen the u-tube video clip where they colour the river in Chicago Green? Continue reading

Twenty Five Years or is that Quarter Century?

jaclyn_25.jpgHappy Birthday Jackie. This day has been long anticipated. I can well imagine that when you were ten years old you were dreaming of the year 2007, when you would turn 25 years old. That day is NOW so enjoy. You are a BIG KID NOW! May you have many more birthdays. Just think, Uncle Gig has been dreaming of this day as well because he turned 50. Wow, what a milestone year it is turning out to be.

Happy Lover’s Day

To all, reach over and give that big guy of yours a hug, a kiss and a memory of youth from days gone by. My, my, aren’t we lucky that our Valentine love has lasted this long. We don’t have to rekindle anything, the spark never went out! Feel the heat and enjoy the glow.

Sweet..Lookin’ Good Mark

mark_dec2000.jpgWhere has the time flown by. You wouldn’t recognize Mark McDonald any more, until you tripped over his size 13 running shoe left in the front hall by the front door. He is a busy guy, never home and always at the rink. Sweet to know that you can now drive yourself. With your sisters gone you now have access to a car of your own. SWEET… that’s sweet 16. Happy Birthday Big Guy. We are all very proud of you!
