Today was the start of our soybean harvest. The weather has been amazing and our neighbour came with his combine and started the field near our house today. I was able to capture a few photos to share with you all and the album link is available after the break… Continue reading
Crystal Mountain Vacation
Martha and I have joined the Bakos for a spur of the moment three day golfing getaway. Nick had reserved a beautiful and spacious two bedroom suite at the Crystal Mountain Resort in Thompsonville, MI. Located in the NW corner of lower Michigan, it is an area that we have not previously enjoyed. So far we have been blessed with amazing weather and vistas of the surrounding golf resort. You can check out a few of our pictures here. Continue reading
Of Legal Drinking Age
On Sunday September 14th, Brian and Peter turned 19. They had their first birthday apart, Brian living in Toronto and going to Ryerson University and Peter living in Warner, Oklahoma going to Conner’s State College. They texted each other and wished each other a fun time. Brian met us for dinner and he then took us back to his dorm to show his grandmothers and parents where he will be spending the next 10 months. Happy Birthday boys.
Happy “To Hell with the Bell” Day
This day has finally come. I know that you have been dreaming of this day for a very long time. Does it seem bitter sweet? Welcome to the fellowship club of the young and idle. I know that you did not sleep in today as you were rushing off to have coffee with fellow retire-eeze and toasting “To Hell with the Bell” with that second cupa. Nice!!! Laura’s First Day at Work
Today was Laura’s first paid day working as a dental assistant. She has accepted a position working for a young dentist with a small dental office in Dresden. We are so happy and proud for her and wish her the best in her chosen field.
Teen Years Bite the Dust
Happy 20th Birthday Laura. :bday: You have surfed your way through the teen years without a wipeout on the big wave. Today, you venture into a whole new realm of twenty something. When I phoned you tonight you said you were playing teen games and being a kid for the last time. Hey listen, just because the teen years have bit the dust doesn’t mean that you can’t still play and have fun. Enjoy!
Retirement for Martha
As of June 27 Martha was officially retired after 31 years of teaching. She was asked back to plant some trees that was dropped off at the school (not sure why only her?) and she surrendered the school keys on the way out. Martha was able to celebrate the occasion with co-workers at an afternoon school tea/bbq and also an end of year staff party at Bob ‘N’ Buoys Restaurant in Mitchell’s Bay. So far she’s handling the change well and is looking forward to her future travels. Picture albums after the jump. Continue reading
Chatham Retrofest Weekend
The 6th Annual Retrofest was held in Chatham this weekend and it seemed to be a well attended event. Friday was the Classic Cruise night and Saturday was the Car Show on King St followed by a Jimmy Buffett Tribute Band for a
BeachFreeze Party in the evening. The temps during the dance fell down to 10°C and unfortunately the attendance suffered for it. We still had a good time plus our share of the Margaritas. You can check out our photos and a short video after the jump. Continue reading
Spring Time Activity
Tom was planting his corn today and while waiting for him to break for supper, I grabbed our camera and headed down to the bush to capture some wild-flowers. You can see my pictures in our picasa photo album. 4tgphotos/Springtime
